Pay for what runs

Every plan is a monthly cap on usage-based billing. Idle apps scale to zero and stop billing, and you never pay more than your cap.

Meters

What you pay for.

Six meters underneath every plan. Each one counts only while something is actually running, stored, or served.

Compute

Container instances are billed per instance-hour while they run. Scale to zero means an idle app costs nothing.

Database

Managed Postgres is billed for the tier and storage you provision.

Storage

Object storage for static sites and assets is billed for what you keep.

Bandwidth

Traffic served is metered. Static sites go out over a CDN.

Build minutes

Builds are billed for the time they take to run.

Team members

Add teammates at a flat rate of $9 per user each month.

  1. Traffic

    1 instance runs

Requests arrive, so one container instance is running.

    metered per instance-hour

  2. No traffic

    Scales to zero

With no requests the instance goes away entirely.

    $0.00/hr

  3. Next request

    Wakes it up

A new request spins an instance back up.

Why it stays cheap

Scale to zero, never more than the cap.

Scale to zero

Container apps default to zero minimum instances. When no one is using an app, it stops running and stops billing. This is what makes many preview environments cheap: they cost nothing while they sit idle.

Never more than the cap

Usage is metered as it runs, and billing stops at your plan's cap — the plan price is the most you can pay in a month. The Free plan caps at $0.00, so you can put a real app online without paying anything.
